Over the past year, Shutterfly (SFLY) has had quite a bit of difficulty generating a profit and has continued to have negative earnings growth, making it a disappointing long term investment. However, recently there has been some hype with the company becoming a takeover target as Facebook recently purchased Instagram for $1 Billion dollars. While referencing the performance of the stock after earnings is generally a good practice, in this case, it may prove to be irrelevant. Cues will need to be taken from the earnings call with regards to business practices, strategy and how this company intends to market / improve their bottom line to possible suitors.

Shutterfly (SFLY) has been active, ever since the announcement of the buying of some of Kodak’s digital photo assets. It is a somewhat thinly traded name, but has been showing some promise. There was an ALERT! on this name back on March 13th.
